About Us

Art de TriompheLosing the ability to participate in the activities that have been part of our life, whether the disability is a result of accident, illness or simply a product of ageing, is an unwelcome life changing event and everyone reacts differently to this unwanted challenge. For some this provides an opportunity to be creative and triumph over the adversity that has permanently impacted their lives, finding new and exciting life challenges. Using creativity to triumph over the adversities life presents is what Art de Triomphe is about.

Art de Triomphe is a member driven, not-for-profit association that was formed early in 2008 to provide a venue for Northumberland artists living with adversity, building awareness that persons with disabilities can and do make a significant contribution to the cultural fabric of our communities. We intend to apply for charitable status and offer Art de Triomphe programs in other interested communities.

Art de TriompheThe six founders participated in a very successful exhibition and sale of visual artwork on the Canada Day weekend in 2008. Support from the community was unprecedented, making the event an unqualified commercial success as well as clearly achieving the stated goal of building public awareness. In 2009 the Art de Triomphe group had grown to 15 artists plus several supporting members from the community, the Canada Day exhibition and sale was repeated and a second exhibition and sale was held during the Port Hope Estival on the Civic Holiday weekend.

July 1-4, 2010 the third annual exhibition and sale will be held at Edwards Next Door, 66 King St East during the Cobourg Waterfront Festival. This year Art de Triomphe has also been selected by the Lions Clubs of Cobourg to be the featured community group in the Lions Art tent at the Waterfront Festival. On the Civic Holiday weekend we will want again be participating in Port Hope's Estival.
